Statement:
My focus is landscape painting in oils. My reverence for the natural world drives my artistic pursuit. As an ardent observer of the environment, I strive to celebrate its majesty and vulnerability through my art.

While the world around us can be a frightening place, I have often found refuge and inspiration in the natural landscape. The breadth of nature's canvas with its ever-changing hues captivates my imagination. I am drawn to the interplay of light and shadow as they dance across the landscape, transforming somewhat ordinary scenes into the extraordinary. I strive to capture the essence of these fleeting moments and preserve them on my canvas.

Working in my studio to allow the time and layering of material necessary to capture the color and detail important to my work, I often begin composing with photographs. Painting also from memory, I will depart from these by enhancing colors, simplifying forms, combining views to capture the essence of my subject. Through my paintings, I hope to encourage others to pause, take a breath, and behold the beauty that surrounds us, renewing our connection with the Earth and fostering a sense of stewardship for its preservation.

I grew up in Ohio, taught to paint by my father who was a professional artist.  I studied mathematics and architectural design at M.I.T and received a masters degree in Architecture from Yale University.  I have exhibited in the mid-Atlantic region (NY, NJ, PA, MD) as well as Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Washington, and Bermuda.
